Outsmart The Rising Costs of Education

It’s no secret that education costs continue to increase year after year. Following university closures during the pandemic, the cost of traditional education has skyrocketed to make up for losses.

Fortunately, there are alternatives for those seeking new skills but don’t have the time to commit to a 4-year degree. COVID-19 has changed the work world so much. More and more companies are waiving the need for a traditional degree and instead seeking employers with job-ready skills.

The decision to invest in yourself can come with uncertainty, especially when it means learning new skills and potentially changing career paths. Now is the time to adapt and thrive in our post-pandemic world. Those who don’t may be left behind.

The University at Buffalo Digital Skills Bootcamps offer alternatives to traditional education. These job-ready programs can be completed in under a year and are the perfect solution to outsmarting the rising costs of education.

The University at Buffalo Digital Skills Bootcamps provide accelerated, hands-on training that allows learners to seamlessly transition into a successful career in digital technology.

Each one of our bootcamps offers numerous benefits.

No Experience Required Introductory Course

Before jumping into a program, test-drive the bootcamp of your choice with the introductory course. Get a feel for our teaching style and program demands to ensure it’s the right fit for your lifestyle.

Our bootcamps don’t require learners to have any experience. This means no prerequisite courses are needed to start, which cost an average of $694 per credit hour at any 4-year institution.

Hands-on Remote Learning

Join our virtual community, where you can take advantage of project-based learning tools necessary to succeed in a new career.

Studying remotely is ideal for busy parents and eliminates the need for additional childcare costs, which average $17 an hour

World-Class Career Services Team

Learners are encouraged to take advantage of our career prep curriculum to build a firm foundation for their future careers. Every bootcamp learner has access to personalized training in various job search disciplines, including LinkedIn page optimization, resume writing and best practices for interviewing and networking.

These services could cost you thousands of dollars outside of the bootcamp. Professional resume writing costs an average of $100-$700, and professional career coaching ranges from $75-$500 per hour

Access to Hiring Partners

Those who complete one of our Digital Skills Bootcamps are prepared to enter the job field with connections to industry companies and leaders who need qualified candidates. Networking events and services can cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars, making this service invaluable.

The value built into our bootcamps pays for itself! If you were to invest in each of these features individually, they could easily exceed the time and money spent learning new skills with our bootcamp.

Digital Skills Are in High Demand

Technology is evolving quickly, and the workforce needs skilled workers to keep up and enable future technological breakthroughs. The increasing need for job-ready employees has created a sizable digital skills gap shortage that will only continue to grow.

Industries of all types–agriculture, retail, finance, trade, food service, tech and more–are desperate for skilled workers to fill this gap. In fact, 76% of global workers reported they lack the necessary skills for the future

Finding candidates with the right skills is among the biggest challenges employers face. Over the next five years, the global workforce is expected to have 149 million technology-oriented jobs. According to LinkedIn data, “we’ll see 150 million more technology-related jobs across industries globally, so demand for digital skills is very much on the rise.”

No matter what field you’re currently skilled in, making a change is easier than ever with the tools provided in our bootcamps. This, paired with the impending worker shortage, can open the door to a new career path, one with the potential to increase your earnings.

Valuing Your Return on Investment

Return on Investment (ROI) is a term used to measure potential gains. While this term is often considered when calculating financial gains, it can be used to determine any benefits. For example, taking one of our Digital Skills Bootcamps can save you years of education, which goes far beyond a monetary value.

Investing in skills that can improve your future can provide exponential returns. Maybe increasing your earning potential will help you get out of debt, start a family or purchase a home for the first time. Perhaps learning new skills will grant you access to a fulfilling career that you enjoy. The return on investment is priceless!

Earning Potential

Regardless of the many benefits you may encounter after completing a bootcamp, the one that means the most to people is earning potential. “How much will I earn?” is likely your most pressing question when considering a bootcamp or other form of education.

While we cannot guarantee any specific salary, we can look at the average and compare it to the average non-tech-career salary.

On average, non-tech-based careers offer around $50,000 a year. Meanwhile, roles such as Information Security Analyst and Computer Network Architect range in salaries of over $100,000 per year.* While there are a variety of roles with an even wider range of salaries, it paints a picture of the financial stability a cybersecurity career can provide if you take the time to learn the basics and build upon them with the help of expert instructors from our bootcamp.

Just by upskilling and learning new, in-demand digital skills, you can experience a great financial return!

*Salaries vary based on a number of factors, including position, location, experience level, skills, as well as work and personal history.
